He has deep expertise in renewable energy transaction structuring, project finance, and capital raising, with a strong track record across battery energy storage, solar PV, and wind transactions. His experience covers both greenfield project development and advisory for operational asset sales and financings, working with independent power producers, lenders, and equity investors.

At PepperTree, Ian is responsible for project commercialisation, technical and commercial structuring and bid advisory. 

Prior to joining PepperTree, Ian was a Senior Business Development Manager at Électricité de France (EDF), where he led the origination and development of battery storage and renewable energy projects across Southern Africa. He began his career in investment banking at Nedbank CIB, where he focused on providing senior debt to energy projects.

Ian holds a master’s degree (cum laude) and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stellenbosch University. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) Charterholder.
